The 2008 Montréal LGBTA Parade is scheduled for Sunday August 17 2008, beginning at 13:00. The parade will start on the corner of de Lorimier Avenue and René-Lévesque Boulevard East and travel west, through the Village, culminating on Saint-Hubert Street. Following this, crowds are invited to continue the celebrations on Sainte-Catherine Street East, between Saint-Hubert and Papineau, where local businesses and organizations are planning various activities and surprises.
The parade will feature floats from hundreds of local sports teams, cultural and religious groups as well as other gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizations. The parade will also feature both gay and gay-friendly businesses who join us in celebrating the significant contributions of their LGBTA employees and clients.
These events honour an important tradition that began in Montreal in 1979. Célébrations LGBTA Montréal is also thrilled to announce this year’s parade will fall under the artistic direction of Mr. Stéphane Casselot, and the participating groups and businesses will be encouraged to design their floats incorporating the theme of “Here comes the circus! ”.
Another exciting new addition to these events will be the naming of the Célébrations LGBTA Montréal Grand Marshals. The names of these two members of the LGBTA community, one selected for his/her contribution to the visibility of the LGBTA movement and one for his/her contribution to our community, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Célébrations LGBTA Montréal is launching a series of special awards for the most exciting, crowd-pleasing and unforgettable floats.
Join us on René-Lévesque Boulevard East between de Lorimier and Saint-Hubert on August 17 2008, beginning at 13:00, for the 2008 Montréal Pride Celebrations.
