Montréal to Become Party Capital of All Rhythms and Beats For the First Canada Pride Montréal 2017!

Montréal, June 8, 2017— Never in the history of Montréal Pride, presented by TD in collaboration with Casino de Montréal, has such a line-up of masters of spin with international credentials been assembled for an extraordinary Canada Pride Montréal 2017, the very first national edition of Canada Pride.

“As a major Pride festival, we have a vested interest in creating a super festive atmosphere in which participants can dive in and enjoy whatever appeals to them music-wise, “says Montréal Pride President and founder, Éric Pineault. “Montréal is celebrating its 375th birthday and is already synonymous with “joie de vivre,” so this year, for this first Canada Pride, we put in a little extra in each department as we welcome the rest of Canada and the world to our festivities. So don’t forget your dancing shoes!” he adds.

New This Year: Two Dancing Grounds

Parc des Faubourgs, a new location at the Eastern end of Montréal’s gay Village near the entrance of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, has been selected as the event’s principal exterior venue and has the capacity to welcome up to 30,000 spectators and revellers.  The second site for performances and dancing remains at Place Émilie-Gamelin, well known to Montréal Pride festival goers.

 DJ Sets Every Day

Kicking off Friday, August 11 will be Queébec recording artist Karim Ouellet with his own groundbreaking performance as DJ. On Saturday, a step into the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s with local guide DJ Gigi. The first of two Mega T-Dances on Sunday will feature three internationally recognized Canadian DJs: David Laguer, MISS M and Alain Jackinsky. A fourth world-renowned DJ, presented in collaboration with evenko’s ÎleSoniq festival, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Throughout the week, daily sets will be helmed by exciting spinners such as Debby Friday and her Yoruba roots, House/Tech House specialist Beatrix, “total mayhem” creator Fred Miller, glam rocker Plastik Patrik, drag superstar Nina Flowers, local luminaries DJ Miss TIZI and DJ Abeille, artist and mixer Le Cantin and sexy rhythms-maker Stéfane Lippé.

Revellers will be in for a treat on the final Sunday with the marathon performance of DJ Mario Léonard at the consoles of the Retro T-Dance for seven hours non-stop at one end of the Village and the Mega T-Dance at Parc des Faubourgs, with New Yorker DJ Escape, DJs’ favourite DJ Hueby, one of the two Canada Pride Montréal 2017 Ambassadors, DJ Sandy Duperval and Atlanta-based DJ Marko DeMarko.

Hot or Disco Nostalgic

Friday evening may well pose a catch-22 situation for festival goers as mega star Nelly Furtado headlines the show at Parc des Faubourgs while the muy caliente dancers and musicians of the Cuban Martinez Show! dial up the heat at Place Émilie-Gamelin.  On Sunday evening, same difficult choice as the Mega T-Dance soars through the night in the East, the most celebrated disco cover band of our generation, the Boogie Wonder Band will lay out its magic at Place Émilie-Gamelin.  More information is available online at: fiertemontrealpride.com
