National Conference on LGBTTIQA2S Human Rights
Welcome to the conference!
LGBTTIQA2S Lives: Our Struggles, Our Victories, Our Challenges
The conference on LGBTTIQA2S Lives: Our Struggles, Our Victories, Our Challenges will be an opportunity to assess the state of LGBTTIQA2S rights in Canada. The conference’s main objective is to bring together community and cultural partners, university researchers as well as government representatives for an innovative and open discussion of important issues.
The conference will facilitate discussion, networking and learning about what has been done here in Québec and elsewhere in Canada to position ourselves to face the issues to come. In order to accurately raise the issues that most concern Canadian LGBTTIQA2S communities from sea to sea, these themes will be examined through a variety of cultural and identity-based perspectives. In fact, the particular realities faced by women, ethno-cultural communities, Aboriginal communities, trans persons and non-binary persons will be put forward in an effort to reflect the diversity of the rainbow flag itself: different cultures, gender identities and sexual orientations. Over the course of three days, from August 15 to 17, 2017, La Plaza Reception Halls will host the conference. The format will consist of workshops and panel discussions as well as plenary sessions and special presentations by guest speakers on the evolution of rights grouped under the following themes:
- Diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- Family diversity
- Canada’s Pride movement
- Global issues
We look forward to sharing with you the largest conference on LGBTTIQA2S rights in Montréal since 2006!
