Equality & Legality – International Conference on Sexual & Gender Diversity in the Francophonie
Equality & Legality – International Conference on Sexual & Gender Diversity in the Francophonie, will take place August 18, 2017, during Canada Pride Montréal 2017.
This conference will provide an exceptional platform to address key LGBTQ issues as they relate to the Francophone world.
Montréal Pride is now the largest LGBTQ gathering in the Francophonie. It hopes to build alliances around the world and intends to create an engaging safe space during the conference. The time has come to raise awareness on the injustices that persons from sexual diversity and gender plurality communities are exposed to in the Francophonie. We need to look forward and build a future where people may live their lives fully, without fear for their safety.
The ogranisation will establish a scientific committee to provide direction for the conference and create a grants programme that will help make the conference affordable for local participants as well as outside attendees.
Montréal Pride will partner with a number of groups and organisations, including the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue, which will assist in ensuring participation from Francophone LGBTQ persons across Canada.
The Québec Government is the presenting sponsor of the conference.
Registration and calls for proposals will begin at the end of February 2017.
