Zone tropicaleDazbog Productions presents The Tropical Zone: a festive T-DANCE with an exotic twist

The islands of the Caribbean are known for their beautiful beaches and tropical landscapes, but also for the passion and exuberance of the people and the festive events they create.

Hot on the heels of last year’s success, producer David Côté is back with the second edition of the high-energy Tropical Zone event. Again this year, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, House, Soca and Calypso beats will get the crowd grooving with the talents of renowned DJs (Sandy Duperval, Blackcat, Eddie Lewis). Also performing will be Wiz Kilo, Supahead, Miss Katy, Joe Bello, Nadia Brown as well as Ill Nana from Toronto. The creator and producer of the event, David Côté, is also the mind behind the not-to-be-missed Faggy Baggy, the Hip-Hop night that has been hugely popular on the Montréal gay scene for eight years now. Having participated in many other events of this kind, Côté has also used his many trips to the Caribbean to explore some of the hottest movements in the islands, using them as his inspiration for The Tropical Zone. Come spice up your night!

La Duchesse de Langeais – Presented in French

STUDIO-THÉÂTRE DE LA PLACE DES ARTS (175, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest)

La Duchesse de LangeaisThe universe of Michel Tremblay’s La Duchesse de Langeais is back in a production by Rita Lafontaine, one of playwright’s favorite actresses. The character of Edward, one of the protagonists in Tremblay’s work, is portrayed brilliantly by Francis Bourgea, a young actor who has managed to slip into the shoes of a character that is larger than life. Rita Lafontaine has re-staged this play, which was originally created 40 years ago. The show is a tribute to author Michel Tremblay, her friend and accomplice over these past decades. In creating some fifteen roles for Tremblay’s work, Lafontaine has developed a deep understanding of the playwright’s world. This is a classic Tremblay play that presents two worlds: one, of outrageously wild characters with an incredible sense of repartee and the other, an understated and subtle world of poignant emotions.

Tickets: $25 (including taxes) — General seating. Wheel chair accessible.
